Construction of the physical works officially commenced on site in July 2016 for Phase 1A of Al Maktoum International Airport programme SP2050 at Dubai World Central. The SP2050 Programme is targeting to accommodate a large scale airport capacity to serve the long-term vision of the aviation sector in Dubai, while providing the highest level of service and most up-to-date innovative technology.
The development of Al Maktoum International Airport will be phased with Phase 1 designed to cater for 130 million annual passengers and the ultimate phase being designed to cater for 220 million annual passengers for the success of the Dubai vision - “To become the aviation capital of the world”.
The Baggage Handling Systems are already in tender as well as packages related to the concourse, terminal , runways, roads and infrastructure as well as the latest innovations in air traffic management equipment and systems are all under design and will soon enter the tendering phase.
